Found on eBay: Freddie Mercury 8mm film from 1965.

"Not long after Freddie's arrival from Zanzibar," the seller writes (in very professional and confidence-inspiring ALL CAPS), it chronicles the "otherwise blank photographic record of Freddie's teenage years." If the dating is right, he would be 18 years old in the photo. Check out the listing here. The seller--a representative of one of Freddie's classmates from Ealing College of Art--is listing the reserve at 4000 pounds (about $8500). Love to see this. Shouldn't Queen Productions buy it?

Update 11:25am: The item has since been taken down, after being listed as a "Featured Item" on eBay. Is it illegal to sell home movies of Freddie Mercury?

Update 1:13pm: Seems that there has been a good two-for-one deal on Amazon to buy both of my books for 20 bucks! Buy 'em both, but especially God Save My Queen II. Send either over to me, and I'll sign them and throw in extra goodies.

The Queen collecting hall of shame.


The guy with this site has loads of bootlegs, some of which I've bought from him, but I never came across his Queen Collecting Hall of Shame. "If you own any of these," he writes, "THROW IT AWAY!!!!" Well, as readers may know, I already own the Freddie Mercury Nesting Dolls. But not the Freddie bust (above), or the Queen coloring book--and I have to have this:






That caption on the right refers to a track off of the Innuendo album. But it still doesn't explain why Freddie is portrayed as an infant. With a mustache.
