The Mad Magazine flexidiscs, part 1.


Since getting a cheapo turntable with a USB connection, I have been digitizing some of the more obscuro pieces of vinyl in the ole archives. This includes my old Mad magazine flexidiscs from the early 1980s.

The Mad Mystery Record, included in the issue pictured above, was a 45-sized flexidisc that contained a song with multiple endings. ("Which ending will it play?") The first movement talks about how it's a "super spectacular day." The second part is the surprise ending.

I've digitized four versions, included below. There's one that involves mafioso ("three mafia guys" to be exact) that I remember, but I couldn't get it to play that ending. You have to play the record to see where the needle will go. So here's four endings.
